Book Club Questions
~For over ten years I had the privilege of being part of a lovely book club. Our conversations about books and our lives are one of my treasured memories. With that in mind, I have tried to include questions that will help you get to know your fellow book club members stories and how they intersect with Peggy Sue's story.
1. Other than Peggy Sue, who was your favorite character?
2. Where there any parts of the story that reminded you of your childhood?
3. Remember your ten-year-old self, how would you have solved a murder mystery?
4. What was your favorite scene? What was your least favorite scene?
5. Why do you think it is titled Taming a Hummingbird? Do you think Peggy Sue was ever tamed, and if so by who?
6. How was addiction portrayed in the novel? Do you think this was truthful? What was it lacking?
6. In what ways are Peggy Sue's Momma and Daddy good parents? Where do they fail?
7. Discuss the quote, "The detectives were less interested in the miracles and kept asking me to tell them ‘just the facts.’ I looked at them as if they were crazy, the miracles were the facts. In fact, the most fantastical things in this story are the most truthful."
8. Who was the hero of the book?
9. What are some of the miracles that Peggy Sue experienced? Reflect on you own life, what are some miracles that you've experienced?
10. What genre would you consider this book?
